DEBBIE SUMNER - HEAD OF PHYSIOTHERAPY

Debbie SumnerDebbie is a qualified Physiotherapist, Clinical Pilates Instructor and Breathing Educator, loving the integration for rehabilitation and conditioning. She has a postgraduate diploma in physiotherapy and acupuncture. Debbie is trained in lymphoedema/chronic oedema management, and previously delivered Steel Pilates rehabilitation. Debbie has worked with Ponsonby, Auckland and South Auckland rugby league teams & assisted at North Harbour Club netball with physiotherapy and sports massage. Prior to physio, Debbie completed her Postgraduate Diploma in Sports & Exercise Science at Auckland University in Biomechanics. She has a keen interest in helping young dancers and was teaching at her own branch as a qualified ballet teacher until 2009. Debbie enjoys the performing arts, as well as a good game of rugby.

 

DAMIAN TAYLOR - Senior Physiotherapist NZRP, MNZSP

Damian Taylor Damian has gained extensive experience both in New Zealand and the UK in a variety of hospitals and private practices over the last 29 years.
He has attended numerous postgraduate courses to extend his skill base and develop new treatment strategies. This includes being qualified in the world acclaimed McKenzie Method of spinal treatment and completing his certification in Advanced Sports Rehabilitation at the prestigious Curtin University in Australia. Damian completed his postgraduate diploma in health science in 2016 with an A grade average and received the Manipulative Therapy association award for “first in class” in the musculoskeletal physiotherapy examinations. He is currently studying towards his Masters in Health Practice and writing a review on the efficacy of hypnotherapy for chronic pain.
Damian established his own successful practice within Auckland in 2004 which grew to include four clinics before being sold. He joined the team at Reab in 2016 and combines this wealth of experience with the most up-to-date research to offer treatments that will produce rapid long-lasting results.

Kirsty Murray - Senior Physiotherapist (BSC Hons), Diploma Orthopaedic Medicine, Certified APPI Pilates Instructor, Accredited Acupuncture Practitioner (AACP UK)

Kirsty graduated in Physiotherapy from Queen Margaret University Edinburgh in 2006. Since qualifying Kirsty gained extensive Physiotherapy experience in the UK including working as a Team Lead Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist for a large private healthcare company in Edinburgh.

Kirsty relocated to NZ in 2018 with her Kiwi husband and has enjoyed working at re:ab ever since.

Kirsty is an APPI Certified Pilates Matwork Instructor and has trained in Reformer Pilates with Polestar in NZ. She has over 10 years Pilates teaching experience both in the UK and NZ and has a special interest in teaching ante and post-natal Pilates.

Kirsty's elite Sports Physiotherapy experience includes working at the 2012 Olympics in London, 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and working for 4 seasons within Premier 1 Division Rugby in Edinburgh.

Kirsty loves combining her Pilates experience with her "hands on" Physio skills to facilitate recovery, optimise performance and reduce the risk of re- injury.

 

RACHEL VELVIN - Senior Physiotherapist (BSc Hons); Certified Polestar and APPI Pilates Instructor; Certified GEMt Trigger Point Dry Needling therapist; Certified Bradcliff Breathing practitioner; Certified Physiotherapist for treating female urinary incontinence and management of pelvic pain

RACHEL VELVIN

Rachel graduated in BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy from the University of Southampton in 2007; with most of those 14 years experience predominantly treating musculoskeletal injuries and pathologies. She worked in NHS hospitals and with sports teams for 3 years in Wales, before travelling from Wales to New Zealand in 2010. She has worked for the last 11 years in rehab clinics, pilates studios, schools and with elite athletes.

Rachel is a certified Pilates Instructor, Trigger Point Dry Needling therapist and Bradcliff Breathing practitioner. She has trained with Polestar Pilates for mat and studio in 2013 and has completed a variety of APPI courses; anti natal and post natal pilates, pilates for runners, stretch therapy for pilates, small equipment. She is passionate about Pilates and fitness and enjoys taking a variety of 1:1, group, spin, fitness and running classes.

Rachel has gained further experience developing her skills in women's health physiotherapy in 2020 and 2021 and is certified in treating female urinary incontinence and pelvic pain. She incorporates breathing and uses exercise as part of a healthy mind-body approach to maintaining mobility, gaining strength and keeping mentally and physically strong and healthy. She believes an all round approach to Physiotherapy is key.
